Affordability Overview

Paying Your Way: Surprisingly Affordable

You’ll find that St. John’s Global Studies experiences are more affordable than you think. Last year we issued over $325,000 in aid to St. John’s students per semester.

If you decide that studying abroad through St. John’s is right for you, we’ll do everything we can to make your experience work for you financially:

St. John’s Students
The Office of Student Financial Services recently issued letters, mailed to students' permanent addresses, comparing the cost of studying abroad with the cost of taking classes on one of our New York campuses. Make sure you look at your personal financial aid offer to see how affordable studying abroad really is!

The tuition and fees for any of our semester-long programs will be roughly the same as for a semester living on campus. You can apply most components of your financial aid toward your study abroad costs, including federal and state grants, federal student loans and university scholarships and grants. Most importantly, eligible students are strongly encouraged to apply for additional aid for a study abroad semester. There are  scholarships available in addition to financial aid.  If you are a student on the Queens campus, call Ms. Rosemary Encarnacion at the Office of Financial Aid at (718) 990-6975 or via email. If you are a Staten Island campus student, contact Ms. Theresa Cantarella in the Kelleher Center, first floor at (718) 390-4350 or via email.

Visiting Students
If you’re a visiting student, you may find the costs similar to those of a term at your home institution, but we also offer financial aid. Whether through a consortium agreement with your home institution or through St. John’s-provided aid, we’ll work with you to make the semester of your dreams affordable.

All Students
Whether you’re a visiting student or a St. John’s student, consider applying for some of the many scholarship opportunities available to finance your semester abroad. Our Office of Global Studies has compiled a list of available scholarships, but please note that some require you to apply as far as a year before your study abroad semester, so start early.
