Always Changing, Always Expanding.
Angeles Ibarra, Graduate Student CLACS and Spanish comments,
“From the moment we arrived at the airport, Puerto Rico welcomed
all of us! The people are nice, and Puerto Rico has a rich culture.
I highly recommend that everyone come to Puerto Rico. There’s no
doubt that you’ll have a great time!”
With its blend of Spanish, African and indigenous cultures,
Latin America is one of the world’s most vibrant regions. Discover
the World: Latin America broadens your opportunities and allows you
to immerse yourself in this dynamic society.
Join us and you’ll gain a dynamic, deeply personal understanding
of the local and global forces shaping Latin America. Taught by
leading local faculty, your classes will engross you in the
language, art, history and culture of each location.
Classroom experiences are a starting point for your own personal
explorations of these remarkable places. Among many other topics,
you’ll learn about Costa Rica’s biodiversity; explore México’s
remarkable mix of indigenous and Colonial cultures; and examine the
rich arts, music and museums of Puerto Rico’s capital city.
Through St. John’s partnerships with local institutions, you’ll
enjoy unparalleled access to the educational and cultural resources
around you. You’ll interact with local students, enjoy privileges
at local libraries and make use of computers and other
technological facilities.
Dawn DeLeonardis, Graduate student CLACS and Spanish exclaims,
“The ecotourism sites reinforced and gave a first-hand account of
the material learned in class. The courses at La Universidad Latina
in San Jose were inspiring and enlightening. I am now motivated to
begin my Ph.D., further study Costa Rican culture and literature
and hopefully spend a significant amount of time there in the
future.”
