This contest challenges students to translate the theme of the
2008 Samuel and Josephine Plumeri Student Leadership Program, “The
Insurance Profession: How the Industry Can Change the World”, into
action. A cash prize of $1,500 will be awarded to the student who
submits the top selected essay.

Announcement
The contest is open to undergraduate and graduate student
attendees at the St. John's University School of Risk Management
2008 Samuel and Josephine Plumeri Student Leadership Program held
on April 10, 2008.
Contestants must submit an essay addressing the following:
"The world's insurance industry is
providing trillions of dollars in economic security to individuals,
businesses and governments worldwide, yet it seems to suffer from a
negative image. Do you agree or disagree? What would you recommend
the industry do to enhance its reputation?"
Submission Deadline: May 30,
2008
Only entries delivered or postmarked by the deadline will be
considered. Only one entry per student is permitted. The essay must
be of the contestant’s own work and of 500-750 words in length. No
co-authoring is permitted. The contestant must submit his or her
essay along with the entry

The contest entry form can be downloaded or
obtained at the Division of Marketing and Industry Relations, Room
448 on the Manhattan Campus. The School of Risk Management will
announce the winning entry by mid-June 2008. All contestants will
be notified of results.
