September, 2006--The Financial Services Institute Symposium entitled "The Financial Services Industry Post Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act" was held on September 8, 2006 at the Manhattan Campus where research presentations were made to a group of roughly 50 attendees by faculty members from 14 universities including Akron, Arkansas, Kentucky State and Hong Kong.
A panel made up of 17 members, including Ali Kucukcolak, Istanbul Stock Exchange; Agatha Jeffers, Montclair State University; Anne Zissu, Temple University; Victor Ricciardi, Kentucky State University; and faculty from the Tobin College, presented Best Papers Awards to the following:

John Newmann (Department of Economics and Finance, Tobin College of Business) for his paper entitled: “Integrating Market Statistics, Institutional Features, and Theory: An Experiential Approach to Teaching Investment.”
Tim Yeager (University of Arkansas), Jim Thompson (Department of Accounting, Tobin College of Business), and Laura L. Mannino (Department of Accounting, Tobin College of Business) were each presented with the Best Discussant Award; making The Tobin College of Business researchers the winners of five out of six awards.
