The Law School’s
Black Law Students Association (BLSA) recently sent two teams
to the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA) Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial
Competition, one of the largest and most respected law school
mock trial competitions.
Competing in a field of 18 teams from the Northeast region ―
including schools from Northern New Jersey to Vermont―one of the
St. John’s team placed second and will advance to the National BLSA
Competition in Washington, DC this March. "The skills we learn in
Mock Trial through our coaches are invaluable,” said competitor
Dominique F. Saint-Fort ‘12. “Whether you intend to litigate or go
into transactional work, this experience gives you a comfort in the
courtroom which places you in a marketable position when looking
for employment. Also, Mock Trial is really fun."
Congratulations to the St. John’s participants:
