The Peter J. Tobin College of Business Announces March 11th Investment Management Conference

The
Economics and Finance Department of The Peter J. Tobin College of
Business is coordinating the inaugural Conference on
Investment Management at the St. John's University Manhattan
Campus on Friday, March 11th.
The Conference's organization has been motivated by the Student-Managed
Investment Fund, a program the department offers at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels, and seeks to:
- Enhance the experiential learning value of this program
by bringing together students, industry professionals, and
university faculty.
- Make students aware of potential careers in the investment
management field that help them prepare their courses of
study while in school, and to get them ready to enter the job
market as they complete school.
The Day's activities feature:
- Continental Breakfast, Lunch, closing Cocktail Reception.
- Planned Keynote Address by the Senior Managing Director of Bear
Stearns.
- Morning and afternoon sessions with investment and asset
management professionals discussing investment strategies,
alternative investment vehicles, and investment industry
issues.
- Morning and afternoon sessions geared toward helping students
understand career options, professional certifications and
associations, and employment opportunities through discussions with
representatives from financial firms and educational advisors.
- Recognition of winners of 1st Annual Investment Management
Research Essay competition for undergraduate juniors and
seniors (sponsored by the Tobin College of Business), along with
presentations of selected essay submissions.
- An afternoon session on student-managed investment fund
programs, including a panel discussion among like programs at
Quinnipiac, Pace, and Roger Williams University as they share their
experiences in setting up and running such a program.
