Raynard A. Zollo, M.B.A.
Associate Professor of Accounting and Taxation

Associate Professor Raynard A. Zollo has an MBA from St. John's University, and is currently registered as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York. Professor Zollo is currently enrolled in a doctoral (Ed.D.) program in instructional leadership at St. John's University. He has published articles in such peer-reviewed journals as: Bank Accounting & Finance and Commercial Lending Review, and has also published a chapter in a book, and a monograph. He has presented several papers to academic and professional bodies and has six papers published as proceedings, all of which have been published since 1999. 

Professor Zollo is an active member in the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) where he held a statewide position; he recently completed a three-year term as a member of the Society's Board of Directors (2000-2002). He is also active in the Staten Island chapter of the NYSSCPAs where he currently serves as: government relations director and as Chairman of the Education Committee. He previous held positions as Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and served on the board of directors for 10 years. Professor Zollo is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (since 1980), the Securities Industry Association - Financial Management Division (since 1990) and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) since 1997.

Professor Zollo has provided professional consulting services to Weeden & Co., L.P., by developing compliance audits, automated management information systems, automated accounting information systems, and electronic trading systems.  In addition, he provides consulting services with regard to financial accounting and taxation issues. On five occasions, he has represented the company in State Tax Appeals for income tax issues associated with the sourcing of income to state jurisdictions and use tax issues concerning the taxability of electronic commerce. He is a member of Weeden's Technology Committee and Disaster Recovery Committee and recently completed the following assignments: conversion of accounting system from Solomon IV version 2 (1998) to Solomon IV version 5 (2002); migration of the database of security trades from Microsoft Access to SQL Server 2000; and design of a transaction import scheme to have journal entries flow from Excel spreadsheets directly into the general ledger eliminating two days of keypunching and data integrity issues. 

Professor Zollo has been actively involved with the creation of Outdoors Yellow Pages, LLC, Staten Island, NY, for the past two years. He assisted them with their financial accounting system and tax structure, has reviewed the development of their website and yellow page directory, has assisted in the preparation of their forecasted financial statements, which were included in their private placement-offering document in February 2002. He has written sections of the private placement offering dealing with contributed capital, allocation of taxable income to members, dilution of membership interests, and withdrawal of a member. 

Professor Zollo has served on the investment committee of Web Investors, LLC, since its inception in 1999. He provided consulting services to Staten Island Trading, LLC. He regularly provides business, financial, tax and technology advice to Staten Island Trading (a franchise holder of an E-Trade day trading branch office). He designed their accounting system, procedures for allocating income to members and the sourcing of income to state jurisdictions.
