Dr. Scordis uses this expertise in risk, insurance and finance to emphasize the essential need for prudence in the management of risk. He teaches and researches topics relating to risk modeling, risk financing and how the management of risk across the insurance enterprise can create value for shareholders.
Dr. Scordis twice won national awards for significant enhancements in the quality of undergraduate education in risk and insurance and has twice won national awards for high impact research. By 2010 his academic research has been cited in excess of 150 times. His work combines theoretical rigor with pragmatic relevance and thus he has also successfully written for highly-regarded risk industry publications.
Dr. Scordis is recognized as expert by peers and industry, resulting in invitations to serve on editorial boards and industry panels, to review the work of others, to write questions for industry certification and to speak at industry events. He was sought outby the 105th US Congress for expert testimony on financial services integration.
Dr. Scordis has been inducted as an honorary member to the Omicron Delta Epsilon Economics Honor Society by his students. He has built numerous customized training programs that help managers create value from risk, including training programs for the US Securities and Exchange Commission and some of the largest firms in the risk and insurance industry.
Dr. Scordis received a Bachelor of Science in Risk and Insurance from Florida State University, an M.B.A. from The University of Georgia and a PhD in Finance from the University of South Carolina.
