Dr. Nicos A. Scordis

John R. Cox/ACE Limited Chair in Risk and
InsuranceDr. Scordis received a Bachelor of Science in Risk and Insurance
from Florida State University, an M.B.A. from The University of
Georgia and a PhD in Finance from the University of South
Carolina.
Dr. Scordis teaches and researches risk financing and topics
relating to shareholder value creation for insurance
institutions. His extensive research has appeared in
highly-regarded academic journals and risk industry publications
including Risk Financier, Best's Review, and Insurance
Day. Dr. Scordis' work has also been featured in
Sigma and Financial Times' Management
Reports. Dr. Scordis has been nationally recognized for
his innovative teaching style which combines theoretical rigor with
pragmatic relevance. In addition to his teaching and research, Dr.
Scordis has given expert testimony at U.S. Congress hearings
relating to financial services legislation and often speaks at
risk-related events in North America, South America, Europe and
Japan. He builds customized training programs for organizations
that help managers create value by optimizing the way they finance
and manage risk. He is a member of learned and professional
societies on finance and risk.
