M.E. Ellis

Associate Professor of Economics and Finance

Dr. Ellis earned her B.Sc. (psychology, 1973), M.B.A. (1976), and Ph.D. (finance, 1983) degrees from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Ellis also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1988. Her research/teaching interest include: ethics, the investment banking industry, signaling through seasoned equity issues and dividend announcements, and financial engineering.

Dr. Ellis has presented her research at regional, national, and international professional association meetings, is widely published in finance including publications in The Journal of Portfolio Management and Financial Analyst Journal, is an abstractor for the CFA Digest and ISFA Digest, and has co-authored two books on the investment banking industry - Investment Banking and Brokerage: The New Rules of the Game (1994) and Investment Banking and Brokerage (1994). Dr. Ellis' awards include: nomination for Teacher of the Year (1994) and Outstanding Paper at the Southwest Business Symposium (co-authored, 1996).
