Accounting Chair and Associate Professor of Accounting and Taxation

Teresa Danile received her undergraduate degree and Master’s of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Pace University, New York City in 1976.  She went on to work as an auditor for Hurdman and Cranstoun and later PriceWaterhouseCoopers. 

 

In 1979 she began her teaching career as an adjunct lecturer at The College of Staten Island.  The following year she joined St. John’s University as an Assistant Professor.  In 1980 she began an Accounting and Tax practice, as part of her tenure requirement, and still maintains that growing practice today, serving business and individual clients.

 

Since 1986 Teresa developed and taught courses at private companies, including such courses as Fraud: How Others Do It, Accounting for Non-Financial Managers and SEC Update.  She has also taught review courses for the Certified Public Accounting and Certified Management Accounting examinations.  Most recently, she has become an instructor for the New Jersey Law and Ethics course as mandated by the State Board of Accountancy for its licensed professionals.

 

Teresa has authored several articles in areas such as Restructuring Charges, Revenue Recognition, Cash Flows, Earnings Per Share, Stock Options, Individual Taxation, Intangible Assets, Activity Based Costing, Value Reporting and Interim Financial Reporting.  She has also presented papers on Accounting and Auditing Responsibility and Corporate Governance.

 

Her dedication to service is evidenced by the many committees on which she has served at St. John’s as well as in her community .  She had been a Girl Scout  Troop Leader for 5 years, and assisted in the Township Little League, and parish CCD program.  She currently holds an elected office as CouncilWoman for Ward 2 on the Franklin Township Council in New Jersey.  In addition, she is the Deputy Treasurer for New Jersey’s 17th District Assemblyman.

 

Teresa is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, the New Jersey State Society of CPA’s and Institute of Management Accountants, where she served on various committees.  She is also Past President of the New York and New Jersey Chapters of the American Society of Women Accountants.
