The Financial Planning Certificate at the
Center for Professional Education

For those seeking to become CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™
practitioners, the Center for Professional Education at St. John's
University offers a program that is registered with CFP Board to
provide the required educational component for students to take the
national certifying exam administered by the Certified Financial
Planner™ Board of Standards in Denver, CO. Our Certificate in
Financial Planning program has been designed for professionals in
the brokerage, insurance, accounting, banking and related
industries. This program is beneficial whether you are new to
the financial services industry, or a seasoned financial services
professional.

In addition
to the full program, we also periodically offer The
Fundamentals of Financial Planning, a comprehensive survey
course designed for individuals who wish to gain an overall,
practical understanding of the field of financial planning. This
course, which is ideal for those new to the financial services
industry, covers various topics, including The Financial Planning
Process, Tax Planning, Retirement Planning, Life and Health
Insurance, and Estate Planning. Students who complete the program
will receive a certificate from St. John's University.
For those students who decide to
complete the entire Financial Planning Program and take the
national CFP™certification exam, half of the fee for the
Fundamentals course can be applied to the tuition of the first core
course (Financial Planning, Risk Management and Insurance Planning)
the next time it is offered.

The benefits of studying at the
Center
Courses offered by the
Center provide students with a comprehensive understanding of
industry fundamentals and emerging developments in the field of
financial planning, with a focus on the technical aspects,
practical application, ethics and professionalism required. To
accommodate the needs and experience levels of different audiences,
the Center offers these programs in two formats, Traditional and

Our Faculty
An outstanding faculty, all of whom have
either earned the CFP certification or have unique
experience in their fields, provides students with an efficient and
effective learning environment. The focus is on both the technical
fundamentals and practitioner's perspective on financial planning;
material is presented in a manner that is clear, concise and easily
understood.
Our Facilities
Courses meet at the Manhattan Campus of St.
John's University, at the Center for Professional Education, within
the School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science. The
Center is conveniently located in the financial district of lower
Manhattan, near all public transportation. Depending on enrollment,
courses can also be held at a company's location, and can be
scheduled to accommodate the needs of employees.
Admission Criteria
Participants in both the Traditional
and Accelerated Programs must have a four-year degree from an
accredited undergraduate school or the equivalent. Please note that
these progams are time-intensive. Individuals interested in the
Accelerated Program must also provide verification of a thorough
understanding of financial principles and may be required to take a
short workshop in the use of the financial calculator.

of Standards, Inc. owns the marks CFP™ , CERTIFIED

awards to individuals who successfully complete initial and ongoing
