Actuarial Science Associates and Fellows Exam Preparation Courses

Associate status conferred by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) represents a professional's commitment to and standing within the insurance, pension and employee benefits consulting industries. Individuals who earn this membership can significantly enhance their professional opportunities within the industry. The Center for Professional Education offers a comprehensive program designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and skills they need to pass the SOA-administered national/international exams.

Students receive assistance in preparing for the national exams and earning professional designations, and often have higher pass ratios than the national average.

The Center maintains a policy that permits students who do not pass the exams to re-take courses free of tuition charges the next time the course is offered, provided that the student attended at least 80 percent of the classes.

Schedule
Courses are offered during the fall and spring semesters. To meet the needs of busy professionals, courses typically are held once a week in the evenings, usually at 5:30 p.m. Each course is designed to allow maximum time to cover all assignments and to review test-taking strategies. Courses can also be held off-campus, at an organization's request.

Our offerings for the Spring 2010 semester are
P: Probability (five Sundays beginning January 24),

FM: Financial Mathematics (ten Thursdays beginning January 21),
MLC: Actuarial Models - Life Contingencies Segment (twelve Wednesdays beginning January 13),  and
C: Construction & Evaluation of Actuarial Models (thirteen Thursdays beginning January 21).
