Groove is an event thrown every year at the university to showcase the art of spoken word. The members of Campus Activities and Haraya will present, as they present a night of poetry, spoken word and music hosted by Bruce George.

Bruce George was born and raised in New York City. He has written poetry/prose & articles for decades. His work has been in publications such as Essence Magazine, Emerge Magazine, Class Magazine, Harlem River Press, and many others. Mr. George is the Co-Founder of the critically acclaimed and award winning "Russell Simmons's Def Poetry Jam." In addition, he is the Founder/Managing Editor of "The Bandana Republic, an Anthology of Poetry & Prose by Gang Members & Their Affiliates, which has been nominated as a 2009 Audie Award Finalist. He has also served on numerous panels University panels (Hampton, Harvard, The New School, Fordham University, Medgar Evers, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and more).
