St. John’s University, continues its
“PARTICIPATE ’12” program – with its second “Meet the Candidate”
night on Tuesday, October 23 in Bent Hall at 7 p.m.
The “Meet the Candidate” night will feature local candidates for
the House of Representatives and United States Senate partaking in
a public forum to discuss issues of importance to college students
and the local community. Surrogates for the Presidential Candidates
will also be invited. Each Candidate is invited to present a brief
campaign speech to be followed by Q&A from a panel that
includes two St. John’s University undergraduate students, a
faculty member and a media representative from NY1 News. The second
of two forums will feature candidates for Federal
Office.

“PARTICIPATE ’12” is a major civic-engagement
initiative to encourage and increase student voter registration,
education and community involvement in anticipation of the upcoming
Presidential Election to be held on Tuesday, November 6.
