St. John's University to Host "Meet the Candidate" Night

St. John’s University, continues its “PARTICIPATE ’12” program – with its second “Meet the Candidate” night on Tuesday, October 23 in Bent Hall at 7 p.m.

The “Meet the Candidate” night will feature local candidates for the House of Representatives and United States Senate partaking in a public forum to discuss issues of importance to college students and the local community. Surrogates for the Presidential Candidates will also be invited. Each Candidate is invited to present a brief campaign speech to be followed by Q&A from a panel that includes two St. John’s University undergraduate students, a faculty member and a media representative from NY1 News. The second of two forums will feature candidates for Federal Office.

•    Wendy Long, (Rep.) Candidate for United States Senate
•    Hon. Dan Halloran, (Rep.) Candidate for US Congress 6th District
•    Hon. Grace Meng, (Dem.) Candidate for US Congress 6th District
•    Mr. Allan Jennings, (Dem.) Candidate for US Congress 5th District
•    Hon. Bob Turner, Surrogate for the Romney for President Campaign
•    Surrogate for the Obama for President Campaign

This event is open to the public.

“PARTICIPATE ’12” is a major civic-engagement initiative to encourage and increase student voter registration, education and community involvement in anticipation of the upcoming Presidential Election to be held on Tuesday, November 6.
