Geffner, Professor in the St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and
Sciences at St. John’s University, has been awarded the Honors of
the Association Award from the American Speech- Language- Hearing
Association (ASHA). The award will be presented during the Awards
Ceremony of the ASHA Convention November 16 in Atlanta.
The Honors of the Association recognizes members for their
distinguished contributions to the discipline of communication
sciences and disorders and is the highest honor the ASHA bestows.
The award recognizes those individuals whose contributions have
been of such excellence that they have enhanced or altered the
course of the professions.
Dr. Geffner is a Professor and Program Director in the
Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Through her
work in the area of auditory processing disorders, Dr. Geffner has
proven herself a pioneer in the professions. Her past role as
President of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Vice
President for Academic Affairs, and her long-standing position as
Program Director at St. John’s University substantiate Dr. Geffner
as a leader in the field of Communication Sciences and
Dr. Geffner will be presented with this prestigious award at the
ASHA National Convention on November 16 in Atlanta, GA.
