Jessie Paul, Chief Marketing Officer of Wipro
Technologies, a global IT services company based in India, spoke to
a full house of the Advertising Club on October 29. Her
presentation focused on her new book, “No Money Marketing,” and her
efforts in marketing “Brand India.” Paul shared with the
students and faculty members how frugal marketing can lead to a
higher impact on target consumers with less waste, and therefore
more efficiently reaching a potential customer with significantly
little money. She accompanied her presentation with personal
anecdotes about how this marketing approach has benefited Wipro
Technologies when it was a new start-up company and its brand
globalization efforts. Paul also elaborated on how she has
seen the perception of “Brand India” along the perception of Indian
talent change over the years in the IT industry. India has
gone from being perceived as a poor country lacking technological
advancements, to a rich IT center in great demand.

related to students by advising how they can decide if a job or
internship with a start-up company would be beneficial by advising
students to ask for the company’s growth rate. The company’s
growth rate will indicate if it is actually it is building its
strength and relevance among consumers, or, if it is still
relatively unknown because it is struggling in the industry.
Her visit was well received by students and faculty and led to
insightful questions from members of the College of Professional
Studies Advertising Club which she addressed with answers that were
certainly beneficial to all in attendance.
