Sport Management

Sports is big business, and it is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal annual survey estimated the sports business at $213 billion. It is far more than twice the size of the U.S. auto industry and seven times the size of the movie industry.  International sports business is among the industry’s fastest growing fields.

The MPS in Sport Management at St. John's is a natural development of its long standing and successful undergraduate program—one of the largest sport management programs in the country.  A unique feature of the undergraduate program has been its international dimension, which has offered study abroad and internship opportunities in Leicester, U.K., since 2000 and most recently in Rome during the summer of 2009.

The program is designed with two specializations, one in coaching leadership and one in the international dimensions of sport. Students take 21 credits in a common core and 18 credits in the specialization.
