Keynote speaker Jo Rossicone, Principal of St. Clare’s School,
received The Patrick Daly Memorial Award---presented annually to an
outstanding educational leader in honor of Patrick Daly, former
Principal of P.S. 15.----for being an administrator and role model
who helps teachers be creative and empower children. Assistant Dean
Susann Ragone then inducted the 2009-2010 Dean’s Scholars into the
School’s highest honor society. Dean’s Scholars have attained a
high standard of academic excellence and moral character and are
young educators who, through volunteer and activity involvement,
have contributed successfully to the University and community
life. All Dean’s Scholars have a minimum GPA of 3.75.
Graduating seniors Maryann Coleman and Crista Camerlengo were each
awarded a tuition-free National Catholic Scholarship. The
School of Education awards two of these scholarships annually to
eligible graduates with a record of significant achievement from a
Catholic college or university who have completed a major or minor
in education. Each scholarship provides for full-time study
in one master’s degree program in the Graduate Division of The
School of Education.
Crista also presented the Senior Address. Speaking about her
experiences with the faculty, she stated, “Their lessons were not
based solely on the information presented in textbooks, but rather,
on their own experiences in the field. My professors used
their expertise to paint a vivid portrait of the life of a
teacher.” A reception for the families of these
outstanding students followed.
