Master of Science and Doctor of
Philosophy in Medicinal Chemistry
St. John’s University's College of Pharmacy and Allied Health
Professions offers a graduate program leading to the M.S. in
Medicinal Chemistry and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in
Pharmaceutical Sciences with a concentration in Medicinal
Chemistry.
The Ph.D. program in Medicinal Chemistry educates students in a
broad range of chemically based disciplines in conjunction with
developments in molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology and
computational chemistry. Graduates will be equipped with the
appropriate experimental and theoretical approaches to design and
develop chemical molecules for understanding and regulating
biochemical processes.
Medicinal Chemistry faculty conduct research in a variety of
dynamic areas of interest including drug discovery, organic
synthesis and natural product chemistry. Some specific areas of
research include: design and synthesis of anticancer,
anticonvulsants, and anti-inflammmatory agents.
