Re:Web Time Sheets

As part of the institutional effort to transform our culture to be more student-centered, The Office of Human Resources is pleased to announce the implementation of a new Time Sheet system for our Student Employees.  The new web-based system replaces the current paper-based time sheets and allows Student Employees to enter their work hours via the web, which is then approved electronically by their supervisor.

Advantages over the current paper process:

Accessibility
Time Sheets are accessible to Students and Supervisor via The Web--- any time any where.

Accountability
Supervisors can monitor attendance on line during the pay period.

Accuracy
One source of data entry reduces chance of errors and the risk of lost or delayed timesheets

Currently, all students on the Staten Island campus and several departments on the Queens Campus have successfully piloted the system.  The new web time sheet is a great improvement over our current paper driven process and has been well received by both students and their supervisors.  Our goal is to improve our students’ work experience and to eliminate paper time sheets.   Students currently using Web Time Sheets receive accurate pay and have so far eliminated over 1000 paper time sheets per month.

We are now introducing Web Time Sheets to the remaining 900 Student Employees on the Queens Campus.  Within the next few months members of the HR team will contact Department Heads and Student Employees to schedule training workshops and begin to set-up the process for students and their supervisors.

I am asking for your support in this important initiative and request that when David Martinez contacts your area to set up a demo, that you encourage your student workers and anyone who supervises them to attend one of these training workshops.  For more information and to preview the system, please visit our web site at http://www.stjohns.edu/faculty/hr/payroll/wts.
