Educational Background
2002 Ph.D. in Systematic and Philosophical Theology, Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, CA.

1995 M.A. in Theology, University of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA.
1987 California Secondary Teaching Credential, Mount St. Mary’s College, Los Angeles, CA.

1979 B.A. in Liberal Studies, Minor in Biology, California State University, Hayward.

Scholarship
My areas of scholarship and research include ecclesiology, with particular focus on tradition, discipleship and Catholic identity; globalization and  inculturation as they relate to mission theology and missiology; the theology of Yves Congar, OP and Vatican II; theology and the concerns of women.

My dissertation, “Traditioning Disciples:  The Contributions of Cultural Anthropology to Ecclesial Identity,” argues for a semiotic approach to sacred tradition that utilizes discipleship as the interpretative key for assessing the tradition’s transformative capacities.
