Pre-Requisite Courses

Thank you for your interest in the Graduate Program in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at St. John's University. You may take the pre-requisite courses at St. John's University or at another college or university. The minimum undergraduate course requirements for the speech program are:

  • Speech 1720  Anatomy and Physiology of Speech
  • Speech 1730  Language Acquisition
  • Speech 1740  Hearing Science
  • Speech 2750  Introduction to Audiology
  • Speech 2760  Speech Pathology 1
  • Speech 2770  Speech Pathology 2

15 Credits in

  • Mathematics (3 cr.)
  • Biological science (3 cr.)
  • Physical science (3 cr.)
  • Social and behavioral sciences (6 cr.)

Although some of these latter 15 credits may be completed after a student has been admitted in our graduate program.  Admission into the program is based on your cumulative index and major index; your undergraduate GPA minimum must be 3.0; GRE scores are only required if you are applying for a Graduate Assistantship.  You should have completed the pre-requisites before matriculating, although you may apply while you are still enrolled in some of them.
