program?

What are the admissions
requirements?
Applicants much have a Bachelors degree from an accredited
institution. Acceptance requires a minimum of 18 credit hours
of undergraduate coursework in the social sciences.
Deficiencies must be corrected under departmental direction.
International students must submit TOEFL scores and will be
required to take the English Placement Test upon acceptance.
Are GRE's Required?
No, not for the MA in Criminology & Justice or for those who
apply for a Graduate Assistantship.
How long will it take to finish the
degree?
The program is designed so that students can enroll either
full-time (minimum of 9 hrs. per semester) or part-time (minimum of
6 hours per semester). Full-time students could complete the
program in as little as three semesters and part-time students in
five semesters.
I work during the day, can I take classes
after work?
Yes. Most classes will be offered in the early evening (7:00 -
9:00). Others will be offered in the late afternoon (4:30 -
6:30).
Is financial assistance
available?
Yes. Students can apply for loans or grants through St. John's Financial Aid Office.
Will I be able to get credit for an
internship?
Yes. The program allows students to obtain up to 6 hours of credit
for internships by enrolling in supervised field placement courses.
GRE scores are required only if one is applying for a departmental
Research Assistantship.
Can I take classes in the
summer?
Yes. Selected classes will be offered in the two summer sessions at
St. John's?

Where can I live?
St. John's has brand new residence halls for graduate students that
include a modern dining hall, a fitness center, a self-contained
computer center, and rooms that are fully wired for personal
computers and laptops. The University's Housing Office can also
help you find a reasonably-priced apartment
off-campus.
