Applicants for all degree programs within the St. John's
University Graduate Department of Psychology must:
- Possess a baccalaureate degree
- Satisfy the department that his or her undergraduate
preparation indicates a high potential for successful advanced
study in psychology
- Submit transcripts of undergraduate and any prior graduate
work
- Have completed a minimum of 24 undergraduate credits in
psychology, including courses in Introductory Psychology,
Statistics, and a laboratory course
- Submit three to five letters of recommendation, one of which
must be from an individual who will address the matter of the
applicant's research potential
- Submit two papers from psychology courses: one a laboratory
paper and one a term paper
- Provide a clearly written statement of educational and
professional goals
Note
Applicants for the Ph.D., Psy.D., and M.S. programs must also
submit acceptable scores from the Graduate Record Examinations
(general and subject). In addition, one or more interviews by the
departmental admissions committee may be requested of applicants to
the Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs.
IMPORTANT GRE INFORMATION
If you need your GRE score reports before November 2011, take the
current GRE General Test before August 1, 2011. Therefore, if
you are applying for the Spring 2012 Semester you will need to take
the GRE before August 1, 2011.
