MLS
Requires 12 courses, six core and six elective. One of the
core courses is a choice of library management courses (Special
Libraries and Law Libraries will be offered in Manhattan). Three of
the electives must be in an area of concentration. The law library
and special library concentrations will be offered in Manhattan.
Courses can be taken at any St. John’s campus (Manhattan, Queens,
Oakdale, and Distance Learning), but all law and special library
courses will be offered in Manhattan.
Advanced Certificate
The current LIS certificate program requires eight courses beyond
the MLS. Some students enroll to be matriculated but do not finish
all eight. A shorter certificate program is being developed. An
advisor can help you develop the list of courses appropriate for
your professional goals and interests.
Continuing Professional
Education
Courses can also be taken for continuing education credit for
one-third of the tuition.
