Gain valuable real-world experience by interning at one of the
many New York-area libraries and information organizations that
partner with St. John’s.
Whether you choose to intern at an academic, public, special or
school library — or at another information-driven organization —
you’ll grow personally and professionally through the practical,
on-site application of your skills.
Internships are unpaid and must be completed under the
supervision of a professional and credentialed librarian. You will
receive three credits toward your degree and internships are
mandatory. Reports and attendance at seminar sessions are
required.

Applying To Be a Host Site
St. John’s University is always seeking internship host sites
that can provide meaningful internship opportunities. Each
organization must complete an
Application to Host Intern Form and submit to the Division
office.
For the School Library Media program, host schools must have a
professional on staff (NY State certified school library media
specialist) with appropriate qualifications to supervise the
intern. In addition, the intern’s work must meet the learning
objectives of the Intern and the Division.
