Thesis Option
(33 credit hours)
- 18 credits in major concentration
- Six credits in minor concentration
- Thesis (register for Master’s Research, six credits)
- HIS 401 (three credits)
- Foreign language knowledge – French, Spanish or German
(Students substitute another language appropriate to
research.)
- Comprehensive exam
Non-Thesis Option
(33 credit hours)
- 18 credits in major concentration
- Six credits in minor concentration
- Six credits of electives
- HIS 401 (three credits)
- Comprehensive exam
Entrance Requirements
Candidates must submit the following items with their
application for admission:
- Evidence of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited
college or university with a cumulative overall undergraduate
average of at least B (3.0/4.0)
- Evidence of at least 24 credit hours of undergraduate
preparation in history with an overall average of 3.0; students who
lack this preparation may fulfill the requirement by taking
undergraduate courses approved by the chair of graduate
history
- Two letters of recommendation attesting to the applicant’s
academic quality
- A personal statement detailing the student’s professional goals
and personal experience
