Master of Arts Program

Students in the program enjoy survey and seminar-style classes that build a broad knowledge of history’s main currents along with an opportunity to specialize in an area of concentration. Students gain proficiency in research, written and oral communication, decisionmaking and critical thinking.

To fulfill degree requirements, students take a minimum of 33 credits in graduate history with a minimum of 18 credits in an area of concentration:

  • U.S. History
  • European History
  • World History
  • Gender History

In addition, all students are expected to complete six credits in a minor concentration and take HIS 401 - Modern Historical Research.
