Timothy A. Milford
Prof. Milford is an historian of colonial and early national North
America. He took his Ph.D. from Harvard University. His
research has concentrated on political change and cultural
aspiration in the late eighteenth century. For an example of
his work, please see The Gardiners of Massachusetts:
Provincial Ambition and the British-American Career (University
Press of New England, 2005). Prof. Milford is currently
studying how Latin American unrest and the geopolitics of the
Napoleonic era affected Anglo-American relations and conceptions of
empire. He offers courses in colonial America, the American
Revolution, Amerindian-European contacts, and legal history.
