The Department offers graduate training leading to a Master of
Arts in Government and Politics. The Department's mission is
to educate its graduate students about the institutions, theories
and political processes in local, state, federal and international
governments and organizations. The program prepares students
for a wide variety of career opportunities. These include
careers in the civil or foreign services, positions of political or
administrative responsibility in the public or private sectors,
careers in the field of education, or for further study as doctoral
or law students.
The Department's
graduate curriculum meets these objectives offering a variety
of courses divided into five subfields:
- American Government (Offered on the Queens,
NY Campus)
- Comparative Government (Offered on the Queens, NY Campus)
- International Relations (Offered on the Queens, NY and Rome,
Italy Campuses)
- Political Theory (Offered on the Queens, NY Campus)
- Public Administration and Public Service (Offered on the
Queens, NY Campus)
The curriculum includes research methods and quantitative
analysis courses. Internships provide valuable hands-on experience
in public service and international organizations.
