Research Interests: Photochemistry and Spectroscopy

My research efforts are directed at the elucidation of the photochemical and photophysical properties of aromatic molecules. The techniques that we employ include flash photolysis, molecular emission relaxation and photon counting, with kinetic measurements covering the temporal domain from seconds to nanoseconds. Molecular absorption and luminescence methods supplemented by semi-empirical molecular orbital calculations have provided us with an increasing understanding of the influence of light on molecular systems. We are currently involved with characterizing electronically excited states in aromatic heterocyclic molecules.
