The Department of Chemistry at the graduate level offers the
Master of Science degree program. This
program has thesis and non-thesis tracks to suit the interests
and aims of the student. The thesis program requires 24 credit
hours of coursework and six credit hours of research coursework.
This track culminates with a written thesis and an oral examination
based on the thesis. The non-thesis track requires 33 credit hours
of coursework and culminates with a written comprehensive
examination. All M.S. Degrees require introductory coursework in
analytical, inorganic, physical and organic chemistry.
In addition, the Department offers the combined B.S./M.S. degree
program. This degree program (Bachelor of Science and Master of
Science) allows qualified students to obtain these two degrees
within five years and to take graduate courses while still an
undergraduate.
