U.S. Federal Loans for American Citizens

American students are eligible to apply for federal graduate loans in the U.S. This process begins in January and can be started prior to being accepted to St. John's University. The University deadline for filing the FAFSA is Feb. 1 of each year.

The following is a brief description of the financial aid application process:

First, students must fill out a FAFSA form, this may be done on-line. You must include the SJU Title IV Code: 002823.

The U.S. government will automatically notify SJU that you have filed for loans. You should receive a copy of the form you filed in the mail, you will be asked to confirm that all the information is correct and to mail it back to the U.S. government agency.

Once you are admitted to St. John's and the university has received your FAFSA (this comes from the U.S. agency), the university will process your loan request.

St. John's will send you a package and a financial letter. Then you will have to complete the necessary forms provided by the financial aid office and return them via mail to the university.
