Course Descriptions

The core curriculum is an integrated series of five courses encompassing the fundamentals of biochemistry and molecular biology in the context of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell biology. It is designed so that BIO207(Core I) is taken during the first semester, BIO208 (Core II)and BIO211 (Core III) are taken concurrently during the second semester, and BIO212 (Core IV) and BIO215(Core V) are taken concurrently during the Fall semester of the second year.

All students will take BIO599 (Departmental Seminars)for credit during the first three semesters and for 0 credit thereafter. Doctoral students are required to enroll in BIO550 (Research Rotation) in the Spring semester of their first year, and in BIO551 (Research Rotation II) during the summer between their first and second years.
