With an alumni network of established professionals located all
across the globe, it’s no wonder students like Danelco Moxey enter
the University with a feeling of certainty that St. John’s is the
next step on their path to success.
“I run into St. John’s alumni everywhere,” says Danelco, a
27-year-old, third-year student in St. John’s School of Law. “And
whenever you meet one, they immediately make it their goal to take
you under their wing and guide you in the right direction.”
Born in the Bahamas and raised in Queens, New York, Danelco
attended Binghamton University as an undergraduate. He says his
decision to attend St. John’s University was a strategic one.
“I was looking for a highly ranked law program, located in New York
City with an active alumni network,” reveals Danelco. “During an
Accepted Student’s Day event at the Law School, I noticed there
were more alumni in the room than there were admitted students. I
knew St. John’s was it. It had everything I was looking for.”
Danelco considers himself a product of the New York City public
school system and is determined to become living proof of the old
adage ‘it doesn’t matter where you come from: as long as you’re
willing to put in the hard work, you will succeed.’
As the Moot Court External Director and Moot Court/Mock Trial
Coordinator for the Black Law Students Association, Danelco says
the law school is a source of endless opportunities for students
looking to get involved outside the classroom.
“I owe the University a lot for presenting me with so many
opportunities to explore my career options. I see why so many
alumni stay involved - they are all indebted to the University for
their success in the legal field and beyond.”
