Gintare Grigaite has big plans, and
believes in aiming high
Born and raised in Lithuania, Gintare Grigaite moved to the
United States when she was 17 and attended St. John’s as an
undergraduate majoring in finance. After she graduated, law school
was her next move. However, after attending another law school in
the Northeast, she felt she was missing out on the kind of
opportunities only New York could offer.
Gintare transferred back to St. John’s for law school and hasn’t
looked back.
“St. John’s was a great law school to transfer to because it had
so many business law courses that I really wanted to take. St.
John’s is a nationally recognized law school, and it’s also a very
diverse school, both in terms of the faculty and the student
body.”
Currently, Gintare works part-time for a firm in New York that
specializes in immigration law. And while she plans to pursue a
career in either business or banking law, the experience has
provided great preparation.
In addition to its national reputation and diverse setting,
Gintare also points to career services as a major strength of the
St. John’s experience. Her background in finance, coupled with a
respected law degree, will make her highly marketable in the
professional world. And that’s where the Career Services Office
comes in.
“Career Services is wonderful. They have networks with law firms
across New York. They arrange on-campus interviews. All the
students have to do is come here and be prepared to interview.”
But more than anything, if she had to pick one word to describe
St. John’s, it would be “caring.”
“People care about each other here. The administration cares
about students. The faculty members care about students. And the
students care about each other.”
