It was the day someone first explained what a lawyer is to
Justine Beyda ‘10J.D. that this St. John’s University School of Law
student determined her professional goals.
“My interest in law goes back to the fifth grade,” recounts the
Commack, NY, native. “I chose to shadow an attorney during ‘Career
Day’ and had the best experience learning what lawyers do and learn
each new day – that was when I decided to be a lawyer.”
Drawn to the School of Law’s reputation and the success of its
graduates, Justine chose to earn her law degree at St. John’s and
began the journey to fulfill a childhood dream.
“I was confident I would leave with skills that are vital to
practice,” says the third-year student and Editor-in-Chief of the
St.
John’s Law Review. “The University offers an immense wealth of
resources, like the Law Review and the On-Campus
Interview Program, which are of immeasurable
value.”
Also the proud recipient of numerous awards and scholarships,
including the St. Thomas More Scholarship and CALI Award for
Excellence and a nomination for the Michele Falkow Award for
Appellate Brief, Justine is already experiencing the benefits of a
St. John’s education.
Justine’s successful legal education led to being offered a
position as an associate in the litigation department of Cravath,
Swaine & Moore LLP. “My experience at St. John's has given me
theoretical and practical knowledge of the law and the confidence
to succeed in a profession that I am truly passionate about.”
