Laura will stack her St. John’s experience
against that of any law school in the country
When Laura Iannucci-Boehringer thinks back to her experience at
St. John’s School of Law, one very specific memory comes to
mind—that of her sitting with friends at a table in the cafeteria
talking about movies. It stands out because it’s a reflection of
the friendly, closely-knit community she encountered. At the same
time, it represents the atmosphere of a place where students are
constantly learning not just from their professors, but from one
another.
A 2002 graduate of St. John’s, Laura was drawn to the legal
profession because it was, in her words, very dynamic and fluid.
And she was drawn to St. John’s for one very big reason.
“St. John’s Law School graduates have the reputation of being
‘doers.’ They not only have a technical, substantive understanding
of the law, but have been trained to actually be lawyers. The many
clinics at St. John’s give students the opportunity to take what
they learn in the classroom and apply it in the real world—an
invaluable skill and one that helps set St. John’s graduates apart
from others.”
At the heart of her learning experience, Laura says, were
professors who welcomed one-to-one discussions, and who would go
out of their way to make themselves available to students.
“The learning environment at St. John’s was phenomenal. The
professors are some of the smartest academics in the field. They’re
not only intelligent, but have an incredible ability to teach and
impart that knowledge to students in a comprehensive,
understandable way.”
Laura embraced her experience outside the classroom just as
much. She served as Editor-in-Chief of the St. John’s Law Review,
and developed the kind of leadership skills that she relies on
today in her position at Morgan Stanley when she advises junior
lawyers.
“St. John’s gave me a sense of confidence in myself and my
abilities. I work with attorneys from top schools around the
country, and always have felt that the knowledge, skills, and
training I got at St. John’s is as good, if not better, than what I
would have gotten anywhere else.”
