As an incoming first-year student at the School of Law, Orlando
Flores was drawn in by its reputation and location in New York.
“For me, it was the ideal location. I knew I wanted to study the
law with New York as a backdrop and the School of Law had
everything I was looking for. It’s a beautiful campus, and its only
a 20 minute drive to Manhattan. And coming in, I already knew of
St. John’s excellent reputation for developing competent New York
attorneys.”
As high as his expectations were, Orlando was further impressed
by the level of student engagement, and the quality of his
professors.
“The level of dedication the student community is willing and
able to offer to the myriad of extra-curricular affairs that abound
on campus is truly amazing. The quality of the legal education I
received was second to none, anywhere. I was fortunate to enroll at
a school where the professors saw themselves as mentors, not just
communicators of the law.
“Also, St. John’s computer lab, wireless network, and new
classrooms give you access to anything and everything you need to
make the most of your academic experience.”
But above all, for Orlando, it has been the people that have
made the biggest impression on him during his time at the School of
Law.
“I cannot stress enough how crucial having good people is. From
the smile on the receptionist’s face, to the extra minutes after
class you spend with a professor, St. John’s assures one’s success
by having caring people all over. While I’m unsure which
professional direction I’ll ultimately head, I currently have
offers in multiple cities and countries, and I know that my St.
John’s education will serve me well, no matter what I pursue.”
