Janet DiFiore, a 1981 graduate of the School of Law, was sworn
in as District Attorney of Westchester County on January 1,
2006.
Before resigning to run for District Attorney, DiFiore served as
Supervising Judge for the Criminal Courts of the 9th Judicial
District of New York, which includes Dutchess, Orange, Putnam,
Rockland and Westchester Counties.
First elected to the bench in 1998, she presided over
hundreds of cases in County, Family and New York State Supreme
Court and served on the Commission on the Future of Criminal
Indigent Defense Services, the Westchester County Domestic Violence
Council and the Commission on Drugs and the Courts. DiFiore also
practiced law, handling elder law, criminal law and civil
litigation matters. The new District Attorney has lectured
extensively on domestic violence, legal ethics, and case management
techniques both here and abroad.
A lifelong resident of Westchester, DiFiore is married to Dennis
E. Glazer, a 1979 graduate of the School of Law and partner in the
Wall Street law firm of Davis, Polk and Wardwell. She is the
mother of three children, aged 21, 19 and 16.
