The School of Law has the benefit of being on a campus located
in a quiet, safe, inexpensive and suburban neighborhood in Queens –
about a half-hour from Manhattan. Real estate is ample, but moves
fast. In an effort to get our students started on their transition
to life in Queens quickly and easily, the Admissions Office
maintains an informal database of local landlords, realtors, and
available listings. While the School of Law does not
endorse any specific property, landlord or realtor,
we do hope to get your search started with our research and
information.
Admitted Students
Housing information will be mailed to all admitted students in late
March/early April. The Housing
Response Form should be completed and mailed, faxed or
emailed back to the Admissions Office immediately. Upon receipt,
you will be provided with the Housing Newsletter. The
Admissions Office will email updated housing information as
available.
If choosing to live off-campus, students should begin their
search for an apartment no later than early May. This will allow
ample time to learn the area, visit several properties, and secure
an apartment. Remember that New York property tends to move quickly
so you may want to plan a visit to New York for several days and
set up several meetings with landlords to make the best use of your
time. Also, securing a local roommate may also be a clever
option. Not only can you split the rent and utilities, but you’ll
have a local contact to visit and secure the apartment. Please see
the section on the Roommate
List for information about this option.
Landlords
Please visit the Landlord
information page for posting details.
For a current list of available area housing listings, please
contact Erin Van Dorn in the School of Law Admissions Office
at (718) 990-6474 or at vandorne@st.johns.edu.
