The Ronald H. Brown Center for Civil Rights and Economic Development and

offer the

Summer Law School Prep Program for College Students

Eligibility
College students who have genuine interest in attending law school and becoming lawyers, a grade point average of 3.0 or better, have completed between 45 and 75 college credits, and who are either low income or first generation college students or members of a group underrepresented in law school education are eligible.

Eligible students must be nominated by John Jay College of Criminal Justice Puerto Rican/Latin American Studies Department, Medgar Evers College, St. John’s University or York College in order to participate in the Summer Law School Prep program.

Goal
To increase participation of first generation, low-income students from underrepresented groups in law schools by identifying them in their college years and providing them with early exposure to the study of law.

The Summer Prep Curriculum includes the following courses

  • Business Organizations
  • Child Advocacy
  • Civil Procedure
  • Criminal Law
  • Constitutional Law
  • Internship Seminar
  • International Law
  • Immigration Law
  • Legal Ethics 
  • Legal Writing
  • LSAT Review
  • Torts
