Paul Bonewitz, a third year law student, is one of fifteen
student authors selected to receive the Burton Award for his
article, “Beyond Confusion: Reexamining Trademark Law’s Goals in
the World of Online Advertising.”
Mr. Bonewitz has been invited to attend the Burton Award’s ninth
anniversary event which will be held at the Library of Congress, on
June 16, 2008, where he will be honored with this award.
The Burton Foundation is a volunteer, not-for-profit
organization run in association with the Library of Congress. The
founder of this award, William C. Burton, is a member of the New
York and Florida bars, and is a partner in the international law
firm of D’Amato & Lynch. He is also a former New York
State Assistant Attorney General, and author of the authoritative
reference, Burton’s Legal Thesaurus, published by McGraw
Hill. Mr. Burton is the author of several articles published
in the New York State Bar Association Journal, and is an outspoken
advocate of plain language and modernized legal writing.
