Michael Gasparski, a member of the School of Law’s Class of
2008, has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious
post-graduate Presidential Management Fellowship Program.
The Presidential Management Fellowship (PMF) Program was
established by Executive Order in 1977 to attract outstanding
men and women from a variety of academic disciplines and career
paths to service in the Federal government. This rigorous
two-year paid program includes 80 hours of formal classroom
training each year, challenging assignments, accelerated
promotions, developmental learning, and networking
opportunities. Fellows are hired by Federal agencies and
given exposure to domestic and international issues in such areas
as public administration, technology, science, criminal justice,
health and financial management, to name a few.
Michael was nominated to the Program by Dean Mary
Daly after a Selection Committee comprised of Professors Robin
Boyle, Elaine
Chiu and Timothy
Zick reviewed his application. Criteria for school
nomination included demonstrated breadth and quality of
accomplishments, capacity for leadership, and a commitment to a
career in the analysis and management of public policies and
programs. Nominees were invited to participate in an
assessment process administered nationwide to determine PMF
Finalists. Nominees were evaluated on the basis of critical
thinking, written communication and other key competencies
considered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
As a finalist, Michael has been invited to participate in the
PMF Class of 2008 Finalists’ Job Fair scheduled for April 22-24,
2008 in Washington, DC. The Job Fair features participating
Federal agencies. Finalists have 12 months from the date they
are selected to be appointed to agency positions at which point
Finalists are considered PMF
Fellows.
