School of Law Launches Masters Program for Foreign Law Graduates

August 11, 2008

Sixteen graduates of law schools from around the world have started their study of United States law as part of the Law School’s new LL.M. program in U.S. Law for Foreign Law School Graduates.  The one-year, 24 credit course will enable these students to sit for the New York State bar exam.

The participants hail from Spain, Italy, Russia, India, South Korea, Nepal, Japan, South Africa, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Thailand, and Colombia.  Under the program, each student is required to study an introduction to US law and to US legal research and writing.  The other courses are at the student’s choice, but ten credits must be from among the Law School’s core courses.  Dean Mary C Daly and the faculty welcome these students and the inauguration of this creative and far-reaching new program, which enhances St John’s’ global outlook and reputation.
