St. John’s The Peter J. Tobin College of Business and St. John's
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences co-sponsored the Eighteenth
Annual International Conference Promoting Business Ethics with
DePaul and Niagara Universities on October 26-28, 2011 at St.
John’s University’s Manhattan Campus.
Co-coordinators Dean Victoria Shoaf, Tobin College of Business, and
Father Patrick Flanagan, Assistant Professor of Theology and
Religious Studies in St. John’s College, welcomed nearly 170
participants to the three-day conference entitled, Sustainability:
the Legacy of Business Ethics.
Business professors and corporate professionals were on hand to
discuss all aspects of sustainability and numerous related topics,
including: Obstacles to Sustainability; Ethics in Academics;
Corporate and Individual Social Responsibility; Ethics and U. S.
Political Issues; Religious Perspectives; Corporate Governance; and
Ethics in Branding.

Dean Shoaf commented that “I’m very pleased that we were able to
attract scholars to the Conference from a variety of prestigious
national academic international institutions, as well as from such
renowned international institutions as Kyungsung University
(Korea); Nam-gu Busan (Korea); Fundacao Vargas-EAESP
(Brazil); Universite de Lausanne, Quartier Dorigny (Switzerland);
Sup de Co Amiens Institute (France); University of
Gloucherstershire (United Kingdom); Istanbul University (Istanbul);
Swimburn University of Technology (Australia); and Norwegian
Business School (Norway), to name a few.”
