The student Editorial Board of the N.Y. Real Property Law
Journal plays a vital role in producing this high quality
scholarly publication that distributes to approximately 4,500
practitioners each quarter.
The Editorial Board consists of Editors and Staff Members. Staff
membership is offered to St. John’s School of Law students who
excel in the Law School’s annual writing competition and Bluebook
exam. Prospective members must also demonstrate that they are able
to digest and articulate important changes in the law.
Staff membership helps students:
- Refine research skills through source checking
- Build Bluebook proficiency by verifying citations
- Enhance editorial skills by reviewing articles submitted for
publication
Staff members have an opportunity to write a case comment or
legislative update for publication in the Journal,
focusing on cutting-edge changes to state and federal law. Each
year, the outgoing Journal Editors elect successors, who
are then responsible for managing the Journal’s activities
in addition to overseeing all editorial responsibilities.
The Journal also sponsors events annually that bring
the Editorial Board together with practitioners, professors, past
Journal members and alumni. A highlight is an event held
each year at a New York City landmark, affording Journal
members exclusive access to some of the City’s most memorable
sites, such as the Empire State Building and Grand Central
Station.
