Dr.
Gail Pearson, BA (Hons), LLB, PhD, is chaired Professor of Business
Law at the University of Sydney. She writes on Australian financial
services and credit law. Two recent books are Financial
Services Law and Compliance in Australia (Cambridge University
Press 2009) and Understanding Australian Consumer Credit
Law (with Richard Batten) (2010). Professor Pearson has been
an advisor to government and a member of the New South Wales
tribunal for hearing disputes involving small business and
consumers. She is a member of the industry self regulatory body
which monitors the compliance of building societies and credit
unions. In July 2013, Professor Pearson, who is Vice-President of
the International Association of Consumer Law, is hosting its 14th
international conference at the University of Sydney.
